It's Good To Be Da King by Trainwrekcomics It's Good To Be Da King by Trainwrekcomics
First off, let me say to :icondemitrivladmaximov:

I am so very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, VERY Sorry about this. I am deeply sorry for not only taking close to TWO MONTHS to work and finish this, but also that, despite my best efforts, it STILL TURNED OUT TO BE CRAP. It's because of this event that I will no longer be doing requests. Ever. Because if...THIS...is what I produce in two months, then I'm not fit to do any request in any form, or even consider myself an artist.

Oy. Vey.

Still, I suppose I should wish you a Merry Christmas. That's least I can do to make up for....this.

Thank you for your reply! I don't color my drawings because my coloring skills are inadequate.

A little bit, but more like it looks chaotic, uneven.

It just is. Y'know, I'm thinking about coloring one of my pics, that may give an Idea of where my coloring "skills" lie.

...I agree----you are much too hard on yourself; I think this is a great drawing, nicely detailed

You are too hard on yourself.

We artists have no gaurentee that we're gonna make masterpieces every time. Perhaps, at night when you're alone you can count your real gems - on one hand; and what ever else we have made, much of it is left by the wayside for lack of patience, skill or inspiration. Such still-born work becomes puffs of smoke in our memories. The rest of our work may often serve to show us that while we might not have rendered it as we wished, the vision which impelled it is still clear - and liable for a clearer future expression. In the instance of commissioned work, I simply cannot work with someone else's ideas unless they "speak" to me, that is, I sense a resonance between us - but that's out there with hen's teeth and all.

I looked at this before I read your comments. I simply enjoyed so colorful reinterpretation of one of Mel Brooks' classic lines.

Thank you for your inspirational words, good sir. And yes, just about everyone I know says I'm too hard on myself.

Glad you liked the title, too. I love Mel Brooks films (it's one of those things me and my dad bond over)!

Well, I hope I was of some assistance there. I get my bad days too, have no doubt, things sometimes just get to be too much: I'm sensitive to loud noises, brilliant light and easily get claustrophobic in crowds of people. I autize sometimes in such surroundings, get panicky, hafta find a quiet place, a darker place or one where I'm not caught up in the middle of a braying mob of louts. (I do NOT go to bars, I hate 'em) I sometimes get miserably and darkly depressed. These things seem to come and go in cycles. Fortunately when I'm feeling upbeat I'm not manic, although I wouldn't mind a little proper mania every now and then. There is one "part" of me which is beyond all that; when ever I've played in public, as soon as I hit the stage I take the place over. I burn up so much adrenalin when I'm doing poetry or music that when it wears off, I hurt gawd-awful. All this hot air to say, we all have our days.

I liked the circumstances where Mel Brooks said that line: chatting with Sid Caesar while he's taking a leak on his unfortunate piss-boy.

Excellent point, though I always feel negative because that's simply the way my personality is; I've always been a pessimist, even as a kid, and though I have had bouts of happiness now and again, for the most part my view of the world is always half-empty. I should also like to mention that I'm what they call a "neurotic perfectionist", i.e. my perfectionism is so domineering that it keeps me from ever really doing anything because I'll always consider anything I do 'not good enough'. Put the two together and it's a wonder I'm still here. But aside from all this, even I will readily admit that when I draw anything, time seems to dissapear and the world slows down. Things might even be changing, since all these comments are giving me second thoughts about how I view myself and the world.

Yeah, I know. I REALLY need to get that one. So far, all I have is Young Frankenstein, Spaceballs, and Blazing Saddles. You can never have enough Mel Brooks!

I'll see if I can scare up some links for those flicks as free downloads.

I also suffer from workaholism. I get a lot done but have to be pried away from whatever to have a bit o' fun. Early on in our "conversation" I'd mentioned that the Aspie angel had touched me a tad, I suppose my comments reflect as much. But hey: HAPPY NEW YEAR!
